Abstract
Abstract: This study aims to describe the form and meaning of imperative sentences contained in the book "Ayyuha al-Walad" by Imam Al-Ghazali in a semantic perspective. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. The data collection method used is a documentation method with read and record techniques. The data analysis technique in this study is a taxonomic technique with stages of preparation and interpretation. The results of this study show that 1) The imperative sentences in the book "Ayyuha al-Walad" amounted to 80 sentences with details of 78 imperative sentences in the form of fi'l al-amr and 2 imperative sentences in the form of al-fi'l al-mudhori' al-maqruun bi laam al-amr, and 2) The meaning of imperative sentences in the book "Ayyuha al-Walad" is divided into 6 types, namely 27 sentences of essential meaning, 19 sentences of ad-du'a meaning, 1 sentence means at-tamanni, 27 sentences means al-irshad, 1 sentence means at-takhyiir and 5 sentences means at-tahdid.
