Abstrak
The aim of this research is to analyze Rahn's role as a collateral instrument in Sharia financial transactions, especially in gold pawning services at Pegadaian Syariah Ketintang Surabaya. In Islamic law, Rahn refers to collateral given over valuable assets such as gold, silver, or other valuables. The research method used is qualitative research using participant observation to collect relevant data and analyze it comprehensively. Data was collected through interviews with Ketintang Syariah Pegadaian Surabaya officers who play a role in gold pawning transactions, and documentation studies related to the rules and procedures for gold pawning at this institution. The research results show that Rahn is important in gold pawning transactions at the Ketintang Syariah Pegadaian Surabaya. As a collateral instrument, Rahn provides certainty to the lender regarding the recovery of the funds provided in the event of default on the borrower's part. Apart from that, Rahn and Sharia pawnshops in the Ketintang Surabaya unit are in accordance with Sharia principles. This research clarifies Rahn's role in Sharia financial transactions, especially in gold pawning services at Pegadaian Syariah Ketintang Surabaya. The implications of this research are expected to increase public understanding and awareness regarding the benefits and challenges of using Rahn as a collateral instrument in sharia financial transactions.
