Abstract

This study aims to determine the impact of the use of Arabic cartoon films on vocabulary retention of seventh-grade students at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Mamba'us Sholihin Gresik. The main problem in teaching Arabic at this school is the lack of interest and ability of students in retaining vocabulary due to traditional and less interesting teaching ?methods. This researcher used a quantitative approach with an experimental type. The research sample consisted of 20 students. Data were collected through pretests and posttests and then analyzed using paired sample t-tests with SPSS version 30. The results of the analysis showed an increase in the average score from 81.50 in the pretest to 84.50 in the posttest. However, this increase was not statistically significant at ?the 0.05 significance level, and because the sig value (2-tailed = 0.163) > 0.05. This indicates that the use of Arabic cartoons has a positive effect, but not statistically significant, in improving students' vocabulary retention.
