Abstract

Abstract: This study explores the implementation of Merdeka Belajar in Islamic education in Indonesia, aiming to understand its impact, challenges, and opportunities. Islamic education shapes religious understanding, character, and spiritual values. Merdeka Belajar grants learners the freedom to organize their learning, promoting active participation, motivation, and comprehension. The research methodology involves literature review and content analysis using relevant sources. The study reveals that Merdeka Belajar encompasses semantic aspects like conceptual understanding, synonym usage, interconnections, and meaningful phrases. The book "Adab al-Alim wa al-Mutaallim" sheds light on the importance of quality learning in Indonesia's Islamic scholarly tradition. Implications of Merdeka Belajar in Islamic education include increased learner freedom, innovative teaching methods, learner empowerment, Islamic character development, and improved educational quality. However, challenges arise from diverse interpretations, resource availability, teacher development, parental and community roles, as well as policies and regulations. To address these, the study recommends ongoing efforts to strengthen understanding, enhance resources, develop effective mentoring programs, actively involve parents and the community, and support appropriate policies. Implementing Merdeka Belajar in Islamic education in Indonesia can enhance religious learning quality, provide learner freedom, and deepen engagement with Islamic teachings.
