Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to understand the application of the concept of the progressivism philosophic in value education. We already know that according to John Dewey the school of progressivism is the school that positions the student or a person as the main role. There is no coercion and sensitivity in giving opinions and must be more advanced in exploring life whether related to individual or community experiences. This research method is library research with techniques using document collection related to philosophical school of progressivism in value education. The analytical technique used in this study is a content analysis technique (content analysis), an analysis that prioritizes the validity of data from one document to another by comparing and studying the meaning textually. According to John Dewey, the application of the flow of progressivism in value education is the same as the development of human growth. Human development from childhood to adolescence to adulthood should be more advanced. The application if applied in Islamic educational institutions is very relevant, so that Islamic education is more advanced in and develops not only in curriculum or subject matter but also in aspects of ethics, morals, character. The goal of it all is to create a moral, creatively intelligent and idealistic human being like in society or an individual.
